Hello,
I am Sophie! I would like to introduce myself briefly in a few lines.
I wouldn't actually describe myself as an art fan. I know very little about the great masters and art history. I have not yet found any access to abstract art. I'm more fascinated by artists who work realistically and in detail.
After leaving school, I trained as a painter and varnisher in a male-dominated profession. I was always interested in colors and design, although I only became aware of this much later.
After this initial training, I became an occupational therapist. I work in this profession today.
I visited Paris in 2015. I was there on Friday, November 13, 2015, when the attacks took place. I visited Mont-Matre on that very sad day. I was fascinated by the artists. This is also where I discovered my love for Monet.

Painting has been slowly coming back into my life since 2018. But not the painting of white walls. No. Rather, painting with acrylic. It was an immersion in a new world. I was particularly taken with maritime painting. But I also love trying out new things.
I have been working digitally with Procreate since 2022. I also design cards for various occasions. I've learned a few basics of hand lettering (because my natural handwriting is a disaster, to say the least). Recently I've been trying my hand at stickers and other small things.
As if that wasn't enough, I bought Procreate Dreams and am experimenting a little with animations.
For me, art is a good counterbalance to the stressful therapeutic routine and, in a way, a kind of self-therapy.
I have been interested in the 18th and 19th centuries since my youth. It was a time when a lot was happening in the world. I am fascinated by the society, the art, the technical developments and the religious movements of the time. And of course it was the golden age of sailing ships!
So my style is based on this era, albeit rather unconsciously.
Alongside the path to painting, I have always been accompanied by the question of the meaning of life and thus the search for a loving God. This search is interwoven with the pictures I have drawn or painted. You can find out more about this journey in the blog.
My wish is that my images, with their stories, convey hope and joy to the viewer and reader.
