Most recently we were at the second fork in the road stopped. There, the pilgrims on the wide path had the choice of whether they wanted to continue following the wide path to perdition or whether they would rather switch to the narrow path in order to receive eternal life.

House of money

But as we saw last time, the narrow path is too arduous for many. It requires too many sacrifices, hardships and inconveniences. The wide path is much more comfortable. Especially as the next station promises power and wealth. On a lush green meadow stands a golden wishing well, which beckons with the promise of fulfilling all dreams and wishes.
Let's be honest: who hasn't had such thoughts? Have you never imagined all the things you would do if you only had enough money?

Money, wealth, influence and power are a stumbling block for many people. People work like mad to climb the career ladder in order to gain more recognition, money and influence. Everyone has their dreams in life.

Many chase after them without ever achieving them. Even if they are able to fulfill a dream, there is always someone else who has even more money, even more influence and even more recognition. So they chase after the next goal. That's how many celebrities feel. They need an even bigger mansion, another scandal and an even more impressive yacht to find their supposed happiness.
But in the end, we all have to realize: „The last shirt has no pockets“. What remains when health and youth fade? What remains at the end?
No one has ever said on their deathbed that they regret not having amassed more money. In the end, everyone will realize that chasing influence and money is pointless.

„But when I considered all the works that my hand had done, and the labor that I had had, behold, it was all vanity and wind and no profit under the sun.“ (The Bible, Ecclesiastes 2:11)
It is much better to secure a treasure in heaven. This is the character that we were allowed to form with God's help in this life. A life with a clear conscience and at peace with God is the greatest treasure we can ever gain. There is a second treasure that we can take with us to heaven. These are all the people who have come to know God through our influence - be it great or small. Even here on this earth, there is no greater joy than when you can personally accompany someone to Jesus. Nothing makes the heart rejoice more than when you see how God begins to heal a broken heart and you are allowed to play a small part in this. But how much greater the joy will be in heaven when we also see how many people have been won through the people we were able to work for. No treasure in the world can outweigh that!

Sooner or later, everyone has to realize that money doesn't make you as happy as you think. There is now a signpost on the wide path that points this out. It calls us to turn back and seek eternal happiness. The woman on the wide path follows this call and turns back. But many continue to follow the wide path. It still has a lot to offer.

Party!!! Sex, Drugs & Rock'n'Roll!

Those who continue to follow the wide path are always looking for new kicks and for something to fill the emptiness in their hearts. A signpost at the side of the path gives the motto: „Live in the moment!“ The message behind it is: „Don't worry about the future. Celebrate your life here and now! Follow your heart!“ This is the message of the arch-enemy of God and mankind. He wants to silence the conscience through which God speaks to us.
He does this well by having people chase from one climax to the next. Music, parties and festivals boost the emotions. They let you float away into other spheres. Because a habituation effect soon sets in here too, it takes ever stronger stimuli to achieve the same kick. So drugs come into play.

You simply follow your inclinations and live them out. Depending on how much you dull your conscience, this leads to excesses and debauchery of all kinds. You are constantly on the hunt for even more intense experiences. But these feelings only last for a brief moment and then the dark emptiness is all the deeper. You are looking for the next kick and before you know it, you are trapped in addictions and dependencies - gambling addiction, sex addiction, drugs, alcohol, constant exposure to music. Yet this path promises freedom! The interesting thing is that people also feel free because they have broken down all barriers and inhibitions. But this freedom is actually imprisonment. You are trapped by your own instincts. You have to follow your inner inclinations in order to be able to trigger the feeling of happiness again. The brain has become addicted to it. It can no longer enjoy the simple things that God has created to make us happy. Silence, in which God's quiet voice speaks to the heart, is unbearable for such people. They cannot endure it. A monogamous life with only one partner for life has become absolutely unrealistic. Even if the desire is there, the heart is always searching for even deeper feelings. Listening to spiritual music is boring because the brain is used to ecstatic rhythms and beats. It's like eating a ripe strawberry after a sweet chocolate bar. It will taste sour.

Our tastes have been perverted by the unnatural attractions of music, parties, drugs and uncontrolled human passions. God knows the self-destructive and unhealthy effects of following one's heart, i.e. one's passions, uncontrollably. That is why he has set boundaries through his commandments to protect us from ourselves. It is like a fence that wants to protect us from the deadly abyss. Many think that God's commandments would rob them of their freedom and jump over the fence. But instead of gaining freedom, they fall into the deep, dark abyss of dependency. But those who move within the protected framework of God's commandments find true joy and freedom, because they are dependent on nothing but God. How is your heart?

Esotericism and occultism

Now we are slowly approaching the end of the broad road. The path from sex, drugs and rock'n'roll to the occult world is not far away. I can't go any deeper into the subject here. But our modern music with its rhythms puts our brain in a hynosis-like state that dampens our consciousness. As a result, we no longer have control over our thinking and can no longer protect ourselves from demonic influences. Drugs intensify the effect. In addition, the entire world of music and film is saturated with occult content, so it is no longer a strange topic. Many films show us how to make contact with spirits, but also warn us of the consequences.
Many stars and celebrities make a pact with the devil to become famous. The spirits take possession of these people and influence the music and films they make in order to lure even more people to them.

Many people smile at this and see it more as a metaphor when someone talks about the demons that torment them. But for me it is very real! We are living in the midst of a spiritual battle. Fallen angels are trying to get us on their side, while God's faithful angels are trying to protect us and win us for God. The media we allow into our minds, but also our whole lifestyle, determine which side has it easier with us.

Many people on the broad path are now so desperate and disappointed with life on this path that they turn to a higher power for help.

Some want to increase their influence and wealth through supernatural power. Others are looking for true love. Still others sense that the broad path is coming to an end and the conscience that has been suppressed for so long can no longer be suppressed. They are afraid of death because they have only lived for the moment and are now unprepared for the end. These people seek advice from the spirits in order to receive help. They get involved in diabolical deals in order to have their heart's desire fulfilled. But they do not know that they have once again been lied to and have fallen into an even worse dependency. Once you have become involved with spirits (this also includes white magic and many things that are considered harmless, such as turning glasses, laying cards, etc.), you will never get out on your own. The spirits are stronger than us and their aim is to destroy the person completely. Once you have opened a small door for the demons, they come in and conquer the person more and more until they have taken full possession of them. These poor people no longer have any control over their own lives. They fall even deeper into drug and alcohol addictions and often die very unpleasant deaths.

This is the goal of the broad way. He wants to destroy the human being who was once created in the glorious image of God. The way began harmlessly with a little food and the search for love. The person on the broad way spends all his time searching for the satisfaction of his desires and lusts. But the more he searches for it, the deeper he becomes entangled in the depths of his heart. Desires can never be satisfied. In the end, they are slaves to their own inclinations and prisoners of the fallen angels who want to destroy their souls.
But even here it is not too late! An already very damaged sign points out to the pilgrim that he can still turn back to God! No matter how deeply you have entangled yourself in sin and addictions, God can and wants to save you! Even if someone is a slave to demons, Jesus can still set them free! Countless people have experienced this! I have too! I was trapped in many an addiction, but although it was a long way (and still is to some extent), God led me out! It is still possible to turn back and find true freedom! There is nothing too evil or too bad that God cannot forgive. Our conscience and the demons tell us that we have already gone too far and that God can no longer accept us. That is a lie from Satan! Don't believe it! As long as there is a desire to repent and start anew with God, there is hope!

But time is limited! Don't play with fire any longer! Don't think that you could go a little further along the broad path and then turn back later! That's what I thought as a teenager. I wanted to enjoy life first, because I had no desire for all the „restrictions“ that a life with God would entail. I thought to myself that when I was old, I could always turn back to God so that I could still receive eternal life. But by the age of 17, I was already caught up in various addictions, as a result of which I was at the end of my health. I was also battling depression. At the tender age of 17, I was a physical and mental tailcoat! I hadn't imagined it would be like this!
So I decided to give God a chance. He did not disappoint me. I didn't think it would be such a long road to get out of all the addictions and find true healing for a sin-sick heart. There are still a few black spots in my heart. It will still take a lot of grace and patience to erase them, but the more I progress in healing, the greater the peace and joy in my heart. Even though the path with God is often rocky and difficult, I have never regretted my decision for Him. On the contrary, I consciously choose this path anew every day!

What about you? Are you also fed up with the lies of the broad road? Do you want to be freed from your shackles? Then turn back now! It's not too late!
